57 battles since beginning of day, with hottest action occurring in Kurakhove direction - General Staff
Since the beginning of the day on October 2, there have been 57 combat engagements at the front. The hottest area today is the Kurakhove direction, with the enemy also active in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
As reported by the General Staff, the border settlements of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from cynical shelling from Russian territory.
The enemy artillery has targeted settlements such as Volfyne, Velyka Pysarivka, Iskryskivshchyna, Porozok, Seredyna-Buda, Pervomaiske, Stepok, Obody, Bachiivsk, Karapovychi, Brusky, and Semenivka. Russia carried out airstrikes on the areas of Richka, Yastrubshchyna, and Ulanove, dropping nine bombs.
Additionally, today, the enemy launched five airstrikes in the Kursk region, dropping nine KAB bombs (guided aerial bombs).

Situation in the directions
In the Kharkiv direction, our defenders repelled one attack near Vovchansk. The Russian forces also carried out airstrikes on Kharkiv, Vovchansk, Velyki Prokhody, Cherkaska Lozova, and Derhachi, using ten KAB bombs.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted five assault actions near Synkivka and Andriivka. Four engagements have concluded, while one is ongoing. Aviation strikes with KAB bombs were carried out on Zelenyi Hai, Lisna Stinka, and Vyshneve, with a total of ten bombs dropped.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army attacked six times near Hrekivka, Nevske, Novosadove, and Torske. Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks. The enemy also carried out airstrikes on Cherneshchyna and Yampolivka.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions throughout the day.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the invaders launched two assaults. Defense forces stopped one of the attacks near Ivanivske, while another battle is ongoing in the area of Bila Hora. The enemy struck the settlements of Nykyforivka and Markove with aerial bombs, and they also attacked the area of Chasiv Yar with NARs.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked nine times near the settlements of Dyliivka, Toretsk, Nelipivka, and Shcherbynivka. Three battles ended unsuccessfully for the Russian troops, while six are ongoing. Kramatorsk and Sloviansk are suffering from aerial bomb strikes, and the enemy also attacked the settlement of Druzhba with NARs.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the Russian army made 11 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of the settlements of Vozdvizhivka, Novotoretske, Mykolaivka, Krutyi Yar, Novohrodivka, and Selydove. The defense forces are holding back the enemy's advance and have repelled eight attacks, with three engagements still ongoing. Enemy losses are being clarified.
The hottest area today is the Kurakhove direction, where the enemy attacked 12 times near the settlements of Tsukurine, Heorhiivka, Kurakhove, Kostiantynivka, and Katerynivka. Eight battles have concluded, and four are ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, Russia unsuccessfully attacked our troops' positions near Bohoyavlenka twice. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the area of Urozhaine.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy continues shelling our troops' positions and civilian infrastructure, with one engagement ongoing in the area of Kamianske. Additionally, the enemy struck Mala Tokmachka with NARs.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian invaders did not conduct any offensive actions.
"The situation on other fronts has not undergone significant changes," the General Staff added.
Situation on the front and Russian losses
According to the General Staff, during the past day, October 1, there were 155 recorded combat engagements on the front. The most active combat operations occurred in the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Lyman, and Kramatorsk directions.
Additionally, it became known today that the Defense Forces of Ukraine withdrew from Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. The objective was to preserve personnel and military equipment.
During the past day, Ukrainian defenders eliminated 1,130 Russian soldiers. In addition, 4 tanks, 32 armored combat vehicles, 14 artillery systems, and other enemy equipment were destroyed.
