5 things that work against person over 40
Bad habits have a negative impact on a woman's health. A Ukrainian nutritionist Alisa Proshak named the habits that work against a person over 40.
Lack of physical activity
After 40, some women may become less active due to work, family responsibilities, or fatigue. An expert explained that insufficient physical activity contributes to muscle mass reduction and an increase in the percentage of adipose tissue.
Poor nutrition
Attitudes towards food may change with age. Some women may not care about a varied and high-quality diet or may start categorizing food into bad or good.
However, this can lead to excess weight and an increased risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases.
Stress and emotional exhaustion
Stress and emotional exhaustion can lead to an increase in the production of cortisol, which contributes to the accumulation of fat reserves, especially in the abdomen.
Too much alcohol
Alcohol worsens perimenopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, headaches, blood pressure surges, and mood swings.
This leads to sleep disturbances, increases cortisol, reduces post-workout recovery, and increases anxiety.
In addition, alcohol is highly caloric. The nutritionist noted that it is not necessary to abstain from alcohol completely. You can drink no more than 2 drinks a week.
Negative self-perception
Women often do not like themselves and their bodies. This can be observed both in youth and in adulthood.
Such an attitude leads not only to self-doubt but also to spasms and muscle clamps.
