214 explosions recorded in day in Sumy region
On March 18, Russians carried out 50 shelling attacks on border territories and settlements in the Sumy region, with a total of 214 explosions recorded, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
The following communities were shelled: Mykolaiv, Myropil, Yunakivka, Khotyn, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Konotop, Shalyhyne, Esman, and Seredyna-Buda.
- In the Khotyn community, the enemy shelled with mortars, resulting in 9 explosions.
- In the Yunakivka community, there was artillery shelling (6 explosions) and mortar shelling (22 explosions).
- In the Bilopillia community, shelling from mortars (35 explosions), artillery (33 explosions), tanks (7 explosions), and RPGs (9 explosions) was recorded.
- In the Myropil community, the Russians dropped 17 mines.
- In the Velyka Pysarivka community, the enemy conducted airstrikes with KAB (24 explosions), missile strikes, artillery shelling (9 explosions), and mortar shelling (8 explosions).
- In the Seredyna-Buda community, there were drone kamikaze attacks of the FPV type (2 explosions), artillery shelling (11 explosions), and mortar shelling (4 explosions).
- In the Krasnopillia community, the enemy struck with artillery (4 explosions) and mortars (2 explosions).
- In the Shalyhyne community, there was shelling from mortars (8 explosions).
- In the Konotop community, a missile strike (2 explosions) was carried out on civilian infrastructure.
- In the Mykolaiv community, a missile strike occurred on the community's territory (1 explosion).
- In the Esman community, there was shelling with small arms.
On March 18, the Russians struck civilian infrastructure in Konotop. "The enemy struck civilian infrastructure in the city of Konotop and settlements of Sumy district," the statement by the RMA reads.
There was no information about casualties. As a result of the strike in the city, objects of communal infrastructure were damaged. Volodymyr Artiukh, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that the heating network was affected by the shelling.
On Thursday, March 14, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that the region had experienced half a year's worth of shelling in just two days: there were 800 explosions and an increased use of KABs.
Earlier, we reported that three men were killed by an explosion while trying to dismantle an FPV drone near Beryslav. According to Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, the men aged 45, 55, and 67 brought the FPV drone home and began to dismantle it. As a result, the explosive device detonated.
"All three suffered serious injuries and died on the way to the hospital," the statement said.
