In the Chernihiv region near the border with Russia, 2,400 hectares of forest are burning after attacks. Forestry workers have no access to the area, Ukraine's state enterprise Forests of Ukraine reports.
As reported, fire engulfed territories of Yelynske and Tykhonovytske forestries of Koriukivka superforestry operated by Ukraine's state forestry enterprise Forests of Ukraine.
This concerns a five-kilometer border zone near the border with Russia, to which forestry workers have long had no access due to the security situation.
Fire was recorded by the enterprise's surveillance cameras.

"All forces of forest protection are being used to prevent the spread of fire to territories we have access to. First of all, we are creating additional mineralized strips. Enterprise tractors are operating under the protection of electronic warfare systems, because the enemy attacks any equipment," Forests of Ukraine said.
Also yesterday, on May 6, the enterprise held a joint meeting with representatives of the military, the State Emergency Service, and local authorities.
"It is important to prevent the spread of fire to settlements in the frontline zone. All new firefighting equipment of the enterprise has been mobilized. But for now, we do not have the opportunity to fully use it, because enemy drones are constantly present in the air," Forests of Ukraine noted.
