In the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson on the afternoon of September 5, a teenager was injured after touching off a Russian mine. Russian forces had dropped a banned PFM-1 flower-petal anti-personnel mine in the area, stated Kherson Regional Military Administration head Oleksandr Prokudin.

"A 13-year-old boy rode his bicycle over a PFM-1 flower-petal mine. As a result of the detonation, he sustained a traumatic brain injury, concussion, and shrapnel wounds to his face, chest, and legs," Prokudin said.

According to him, the boy is now in the hospital under medical supervision. His condition is assessed as moderate.

On September 5, Russian troops also used a strike drone to attack the car of Kherson regional council deputy Oleksandr Hordiienko. The politician and businessman died from his injuries.

Attacks on Kherson and the region

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have been attacking Kherson, trying to turn the city into a ghost town.

In particular, the Russian army struck the Ostrivskyi Bridge with guided bombs for three days in a row. Following these attacks, local authorities expanded the evacuation zone for residents of the Korabel, Yantarnyi-1, Yantarnyi-2 neighborhoods, and all streets located closer to the Dnipro River.
