100-year agreement between Ukraine and UK nearing completion – Presidential Office
Ukraine and the UK have held talks on a 100-year agreement. The draft document is at the final stage of approval, according to the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
As noted in the Office, the fifth round of negotiations on the agreement took place between Ukraine and the UK. The talks were held to advance the agreements reached by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on December 23 last year.
"The draft document is at the final stage of approval," the Office of the President added.
During the talks, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva emphasized that Ukraine is grateful to Britain for its leadership in supporting Ukraine.
"The conclusion of a new fundamental agreement between our states will be a historic milestone in our cooperation. This proves once again that the UK has been, is, and will be Ukraine’s reliable friend and partner,” he said.
The Ukrainian and British delegations agreed on the next steps to finalize the text of the agreement.
100-year agreement agreement
It was reported last year that a 100-year agreement was being prepared between Ukraine and the UK.
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, British Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Harris said that such an agreement would strengthen cooperation between the countries in the security sphere, as well as in culture, technology, education, and economic spheres.
