In recent years, Ukrainian game developers have been gaining recognition around the world for their unique projects. They create fascinating and incomparable games that appeal to both regular players and critics.

RBC-Ukraine tells about the 10 best PC games developed by Ukrainian studios, according to to GG.deals, a website that provides the best deals on games and other digital products for PC.

Cossacks 3

Before GSC Game World started their journey to the Zone with STALKER: Shadow of Chornobyl, they had been creating quite good real-time strategies since Cossacks: European Wars in 2000.

Over the next ten years, they released a lot of DLC for this series and other standalone strategies such as Heroes of Annihilated Empires.

The studio was temporarily closed at the end of 2011, but returned three years later, resulting in the creation of Cossacks 3! The game has a solid, familiar gameplay that players know from the previous installments of the series.

With one exception: the third main game features epic battles that allow you to place up to 10 thousand units on the map.

Men of War

Best Way Studio knew what they were doing with this game because they had already had experience with other RTS titles such as Soldiers: Heroes of World War II or Faces of War.

Nevertheless, it was Men of War that helped the studio gain recognition in the industry. It is an outdated but decent strategy game with 19 missions that were divided into three separate campaigns.

Unfortunately, the long-awaited sequel, Men of War II, did not live up to expectations and received bad reviews for historical inaccuracies, inadequate AI, and the requirement to have an Internet connection at all times. However, nothing prevents you from trying the classic version if you don't mind retro titles.

Atom RPG: Post-apocalyptic indie game

Atom RPG borrowed the nuclear apocalypse scenario and signature game mechanics from Fallout 1 and 2 and mixed them with some Soviet aesthetics.

According to the game's plot, the Cold War led to disaster instead of ending with the fall of the Berlin Wall and communism. To make things even darker, we play from the perspective of the post-apocalyptic USSR.

After creating your character and distributing attributes, you are off to a dangerous world. Your search for the missing expedition team turns into a damn difficult task, where poor planning and ill-conceived strategy will cost you your life.

Metro Exodus

This is a post-apocalyptic vision of the world that seems to be a mixture of Fallout and STALKER. Although the game mechanics are somewhat similar to what we saw in the universe of The Boy from the Asylum and Death Claws, this franchise portrays a darker, heavier atmosphere.

Not to mention that it feels claustrophobic most of the time as you try to survive in the subway, literally.

Party Hard 2

Party Hard 2 is a rather violent action game with stealth elements. You play as a psychopath on his path of revenge. He must teach his boss and colleagues a lesson for their stinginess.

As in the infamous Postal game, you can just kill everyone. However, be careful not to be noticed in the process.

For your perfect crime to succeed, you will have to choose the right weapons, effective traps, and tactics that will work in specific situations.

STALKER series

The creators of the previously mentioned Cossacks have outdone themselves by introducing a series of post-apocalyptic RPG games that began with STALKER: Shadow of Chornobyl. It was a breath of fresh air and a bold combination of different game genres that led to a well-deserved success.

Sherlock Holmes series

The first games of the franchise were traditional point-and-click games, and later games were much more action-oriented.

We can explore London, and in Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One” we visit a fictional island.

The last part, The Awakened, combines more mystery and Lovecraftian magic. Don't worry: wherever Sherlock has to go, there will be a case to solve.

The Sinking City

The Sinking City is an action RPG with a touch of survival horror. Its plot focuses on an abnormal flood that occurred in a small American town in the 20s.

We play Detective Charles W. Reed, who has to investigate an unusual case. Due to some controversies, the future of this game is still unknown.

This Land Is My Land

We play as one of the indigenous people of the United States of America: our goal is to protect our land from an external enemy. A lot of attention is paid to the stealth system and silent killing, as we only have a bow, as well as a number of cold weapons.

As in a good sandbox, the game provides a significant degree of freedom so that we can explore a huge, colorful world.

Just like in real life, other Native American tribes will sometimes get in our way, and so despite all this freedom, we must be careful with our surroundings.

The Age of Decadence

If you're tired of Western action RPGs that seem too linear, you might find some complexity in games made in Ukraine that draw inspiration from timeless classics.

The Age of Decadence does just that. Here, your actions and decisions shape the story and the in-game world, which reacts accordingly.

The gameplay is complex and systematically rich, but that's the beauty of it. At first glance, all those blocks of numbers and text look intimidating, but behind all that data you can find many solutions to quests and many play styles to try.

After completing the training and choosing your Noble House and profession (merchant, assassin, thief, or soldier), you can become the architect of your character's fate.
