Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev said that talks in the United States on ending the war in Ukraine are proceeding constructively and will last two days, according to Russia’s pro-Kremlin news agency TASS.
"The discussions are constructive. They have begun today and will continue today, and will also continue tomorrow," Dmitriev told journalists.
Trump's peace plan
Ukraine, together with the US and Europe, has been refining the US peace plan for about a month. The plan was presented in November and from the outset contained provisions that were clearly favorable to Russia. For this reason, the parties have been holding regular meetings to make it more acceptable to Kyiv.
On December 19, another round of talks took place in Miami between NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov and US and European partners. Following the meeting, he said the sides had agreed on further steps and on continuing work in the near future.
Media also reported that on Saturday, December 20, Dmitriev flew to Miami to hold talks with Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and the US President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said the US had proposed holding a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia at the level of national security advisers, adding that Kyiv supports the idea.
