Drone attack hits Russia's Volgograd region, fuel and energy facilities on fire

Unidentified drones attacked Russia’s Volgograd region overnight on October 9, causing damage and fires in several areas, according to Russian channels.
According to several public channels, the drone attack reportedly occurred around 1:00 AM Kyiv time. Shortly after, Volgograd region governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed the incident.
He stated that Russian air defense forces were repelling a massive drone attack targeting the region.
"Tonight, air defense units of the Russian Ministry of Defense are repelling a large-scale drone attack on the territory of the Volgograd region," Bocharov said.
According to the governor, a boiler house building was damaged, and the facilities of the fuel and energy complex caught fire.
"In the Kotovsky district, debris from a UAV partially damaged a boiler house. Fires also broke out at facilities belonging to the fuel and energy sector," he noted.
Bocharov added that fire services were already on site and working to extinguish the blazes.
Meanwhile, several public channels reported that, according to residents, a fire broke out at the Lukoil-Korobkovsky gas processing plant in the town of Kotovo following the drone strike. However, these claims have not been independently verified and remain unconfirmed.
