When Russia may begin its offensive on Pokrovsk: Expert outlines conditions
Russian troops are unlikely to begin an offensive on Pokrovsk in the coming days. For such actions, the enemy needs to meet several conditions, states military-political analyst Oleksandr Kovalenko from the Information Resistance group in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
Kovalenko noted that the main focus of the Russian forces is currently on Kurakhove. They are attempting to storm the city head-on. The enemy is also trying to advance through the village of Maksymilianivka, which is located near the city.
In addition, the expert added that the enemy wants to encircle Kurakhove from the west and south. They aim to soon reach the main logistical artery — the village of Dachne.
At the same time, according to Kovalenko, the Russian forces may concentrate on Pokrovsk when they meet two conditions:
- They will have complete control over the southern flank.
- They will be able to establish a primary line of combat engagement from which they will advance.
The expert specified that there are several options for such a line of engagement.
"It could be Novotroitske-Shevchenko-Dachenske-Sukhyi Yar. Or they might establish the line through Zhovte to Dachenske. Only once this line is formed will they begin the main phase of the offensive on Pokrovsk," he believes.
