When could Russia begin second phase of its offensive? Expert explains

Russia has already completed the first phase of its 2025 military campaign. The new phase may begin once the enemy accumulates a sufficient number of soldiers, stated military expert and former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ihor Romanenko, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine’s YouTube channel.

He noted that the Russian forces will continue combat operations as long as they have resources. Romanenko believes the first phase of Russia’s 2025 campaign was completed because the enemy used the resources they had gathered at the end of last year and during the winter.

"Therefore, it should be expected that they will accumulate up to 160,000 troops and armored vehicles. This will be the second phase," the expert emphasized.

Situation on the front

Earlier, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russian forces are currently concentrating their main efforts around Pokrovsk.

In particular, just today, 24 attempts by the enemy to push Ukrainian soldiers from their positions were recorded in the Pokrovsk direction.

Meanwhile, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian defenders recently managed to make gains in several areas near Pokrovsk.
