The elected US president Donald Trump does not yet have a final plan for ending the war in Ukraine. Currently, there are only certain developments, states political scientist Ihor Reiterovych in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

"I think that Trump doesn't yet have a final plan. After all, Keith Kellogg (the future US special representative for Ukraine) hasn't visited Ukraine yet, and he was planning a fact-finding tour. So, I believe there isn't an actual plan yet, just certain developments of this plan," said Reiterovych.

He noted that it would be beneficial for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to be directly involved in these developments.

"It would be right. Of all the people Trump can talk to, Zelenskyy has the most information because he represents a country that is defending itself from aggression. And logically, it would make sense to ask the President of Ukraine how we see a way out of this situation, what compromises Ukraine is willing to make," the political scientist added.

In his opinion, during such discussions, Trump may come up with a final plan, as, for now, his approaches are controversial.

"It’s clear that he is looking for a way, but so far, this way has not been determined," emphasized Reiterovych.

He also added that Keith Kellogg's visit to Ukraine is important. However, if he arrives with any proposals, they will definitely not be made public.

"Because until January 20, before his official appointment to the position, he is not allowed to make any announcements. But it is important for him to visit Ukraine and European capitals, to gather information, formulate a position, and then go and share it with Trump," the political scientist noted.

Trump's plan for ending the war in Ukraine

US President-elect Donald Trump has promised to quickly end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Specifically, he pledged to end the war within the first 24 hours of his presidency.

According to Reuters, Trump is considering three main options for ending the war. These plans come from his appointed special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, the elected vice president of the US, JD Vance, and former acting intelligence chief Richard Grenell. All three suggest a war freeze along the current line of demarcation in one form or another.

Trump also promised to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to bring an end to the war.

According to Zelenskyy, Trump could play a crucial role in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. He might help stop Putin.

In addition, a visit to Kyiv by Keith Kellogg is scheduled for January. After Trump’s inauguration, Kellogg will assume the position of special representative for Ukraine.
