Sandu to face challenges in being reelected for second term: Analyst names reasons
President of Moldova Maia Sandu advanced to the second round of elections in Moldova. However, it will be difficult for her to win there, states political analyst and managing partner of PGR Consulting Group LLC, Ruslan Rokhov, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
In his opinion, one of the factors that will make it difficult for Sandu to win is the likely mobilization of anti-European integration opponents for the second round. This scenario is possible because they did not achieve their desired outcome in the referendum.
"That's over 730,000 votes, which is more than Maia Sandu received in the first round," Rokhov specified.
He also noted that about 130,000 voters, bribed by Moldovan oligarch Ilan Shor, will also participate in the second round.
Additionally, as Rokhov added, Stoianoglo may receive support from other high-ranking candidates who did not make it to the second round.
