Russian losses reach all-time high - Ukrainian military
Russian losses are now at their highest levels since the start of the war in Ukraine. The reason is that Vladimir Putin is trying to seize as many Ukrainian territories as possible before the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, stated Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Ataman Sirko, in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
Responding to a question about whether there are signs of Russian forces and resources being amassed to deliver a surprise powerful strike on Ukraine in January, ahead of Trump’s inauguration, Fedorenko said that anything can be expected from the enemy.
"As for the enemy's forces and means, one way or another, the Kharkiv region remains something that they were not able to realize. They are looking for new reserves to strengthen their combat capabilities and try to reach the administrative borders of the city of Kharkiv," the military commander said.
However, in his opinion, the Russians will not succeed in achieving this.
"Regarding this overall 'kamikaze mode,' all enemy troops have suffered the largest losses in the entire war. This is due to Putin’s uncertainty about Trump’s future actions. He is trying to seize as much territory as possible to gain additional leverage in potential negotiations with the US," Fedorenko noted.
Russian wosses in the war
According to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia has lost 754,590 personnel.
In the past 24 hours alone, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have eliminated another 1,220 Russian troops. Additionally, 18 armored fighting vehicles, three artillery systems, and other enemy equipment were destroyed.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War recently reported that the Kremlin continues to suffer significant losses in manpower in order to achieve tactical success in the Donetsk region. During the autumn alone, Russia lost nearly 126,000 soldiers in its offensive operations.
