Over the last day, from December 8 to 9, Russian losses at the front amounted to 1,220 soldiers. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale Russia's war against Ukraine, Russia has lost 754,590 soldiers, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to December 9, 2024, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 754,590 (+1,220) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 9,519;
  • armored personnel vehicle - 19,589 (+18);
  • artillery systems - 21,061 (+3);
  • MLRS - 1,253;
  • anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1,023;
  • aircraft - 369;
  • helicopters - 329;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 20,093 (+22);
  • cruise missiles - 2,859 (+2);
  • warships/boats - 28;
  • submarines - 1;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 30,989 (+24);
  • special equipment - 3,636 (+1).

According to the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia lost approximately 125,800 soldiers during the offensives in the fall of 2024. Analysts estimate Russia lost about 53 soldiers per kilometer of captured territory.
