Massive strike deep into Russia marks historic moment in war – Expert
The events that have unfolded over the past few days on the territory of Russia hold historical significance, stated military expert and former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ihor Romanenko, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.
According to him, this is effectively the first massive strike by Ukraine on military targets deep within Russia in three years, using various means of attack.
"These include drones of different types and ATACMS missiles. Perhaps there were other means as well... But the main thing is that the principle of a philosophical law was realized - quantity eventually transforms into quality. I want to emphasize that this is a historic moment," he explained.
In his opinion, the objects struck overnight on Russian territory indicate that this large-scale approach successfully targeted key strategic objectives that had been identified earlier.
"These include enemy facilities related to fuel and lubricants, which are supplied to Russian Armed Forces structures. Secondly, enterprises, factories, and everything connected to the production of weapons, equipment, and ammunition for the enemy. These are strategic-level targets. Thirdly, airfields, launch sites, and systems used to strike us," he emphasized.
Strikes on Russian territory
Yesterday evening, Russian media reported a large-scale attack across several regions of Russia. Locals reported both missile and drone strikes.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the infrastructure of the Russian military airfield Engels-2 for the second time. This airfield houses Tu-95MS and Tu-160 aircraft of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division of the Russian Federation.
Moreover, the Ukrainian Armed Forces delivered a precise strike on the Bryansk Chemical Plant in the town of Seltso, a strategic facility of Russia's military-industrial complex.
