Is Russia capable of launching a major operation in Kherson region? Military analysis
Forcing the Dnipro River now will not benefit Russian troops. Statements about an offensive in the Kherson region are just propaganda, as Ivan Tymochko, the head of the Reserve Forces Council, told RBC-Ukraine.
Tymochko noted that the Russians could not even advance near Pokrovsk or completely occupy Kurakhove.
“If we consider the Vremivka, Kurakhove, and Pokrovsk directions, the Russians have deployed 150 thousand troops there. On the ground. Taking into account the logistics there is much closer to Russia as they have control over the mainland territory of Ukraine,” Tymochko said.
He believes that the situation in the Kherson region is quite different. Even with better supplies, Russians were forced to flee Kherson.
“I think that there is a certain information injection there, with perhaps a planned distraction of some kind. And it will be with some kind of powerful information campaign,” he said.
According to RBC-Ukraine's sources, Moscow plans to intensify hostilities in the Zaporizhzhia region and the right-bank part of the Kherson region.
Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesperson for the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces, said that the Russian military had already tried to force the Dnipro River near Antonivskyi Bridge, but did not even reach the middle.
