US President Donald Trump's plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine within 100 days seems more realistic than previously suggested timelines. However, the key factor is ensuring that the United States continues to support Ukraine's Armed Forces, stated political analyst Ihor Reiterovych in a commentary to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

"This isn’t the first abstract idea, but it seems more realistic than 24 days or some other timeframe. A 100-day period is enough to hold negotiations and reach some understanding of how the situation might look," Reiterovych said.

He noted that the main thing in this situation is that the US should support Ukraine during these 3-6 months.

"Negotiations are one thing, but as Trump himself said, they should happen from a position of strength. So, the US should and I believe will continue to support Ukraine, and these processes will move forward," the political scientist stated.

Reiterovych also noted that if Russia's economic situation deteriorates rapidly, it will be more likely to come to the negotiating table.

"Trump knows this. We'll see if he takes advantage of it," he added.

Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine in 100 days

The Wall Street Journal reported today that US President Donald Trump has tasked Keith Kellogg, the US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, with ending the war in Ukraine within 100 days. However, skepticism remains high about the feasibility of this goal.

According to the media outlet, Kellogg’s role as a Special Envoy for Ukraine is likely an initial step in peace negotiations, which Trump intends to oversee personally. However, negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin may prove far more challenging than Trump suggested during his campaign.

It is noted that Russia has shown no interest in cooperating with Kellogg. At the same time, the Kremlin suggests that mutual understanding between Trump and Putin could lead to improved relations between Russia and the United States under Trump's presidency. Trump and Putin said they have not yet had a personal conversation, but promised to do so in the near future.
