How NABU scandal could hit Zelenskyy’s approval rating: Political expert explains

The recent protests in Ukraine related to controversial changes in the legislation on NABU do not pose a threat to the country’s internal stability, stated political analyst Ihor Reiterovych in a comment to RBC-Ukraine’s YouTube channel.
"They (the protests - ed.) do not threaten Ukraine with any internal instability. At all the protests, no one shouted 'Down with Zelenskyy,' 'Overthrow the government,' 'Start a revolution,' or 'Shoot someone,'" the expert emphasized.
According to him, the protests were only about demands not to touch NABU, institutions, and European integration. The political analyst believes the protests were not personalized and had a preventive nature.
"The protests showed that there are certain things that cannot be crossed. There is a limit to patience, Ukrainians endure. But when such things arise, they will not tolerate it," he noted.
The expert also stressed that Russia is already trying to use the situation for its own purposes, but falsely describes the protests as anti-government.
"They say Ukrainians are against Zelenskyy, but that’s not true," he added.
In the political analyst’s opinion, although the situation does not pose a serious threat to the government, it will affect the President’s popularity.
"Obviously, this will hit Zelenskyy’s ratings. But it is not a direct attack on him. It’s simply a reminder that Ukrainians have their position and it cannot be ignored," he explained.
According to him, the authorities got scared and will probably refrain from foolish actions in the near future, focusing on their direct duties.
