Russia's morning attack was likely prepared in a hurry to report back to its people after strikes on the Russian territory, stated aviation expert Valerii Romanenko in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel.

"It seems like the attack was prepared in a hurry. The Russians need to show their people that they are also capable of striking. After reports of 200 drones hitting their territory, with fires raging in Engels for five days, the Russians had to make some gesture in response," the expert explained.

Romanenko noted that in previous attacks, the Russians had carefully planned a relatively high level of combined attack. However, today, the enemy used only one ballistic missile and four Kalibr missiles, the latter being among the most basic in Russia's arsenal. Additionally, 27 cruise missiles were launched from strategic bombers.

"Well, it's clear that something fell into the sea because it's impossible to launch an odd number of missiles from a bomber. The suspension system is symmetrical," he added.

According to the expert, today's attack involved a limited number of targets, and in the Lviv region, the enemy primarily aimed to hit gas storage facilities.

"As for the drones, they were launched out of habit. The number of drones was also smaller compared to large-scale massive strikes. Overall, the effectiveness of our air defense, if we consider only cruise missiles, stands at 85%, while for drones, it's 100%," the expert noted.

Morning attack on Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has systematically carried out massive attacks using various types of weapons, posing a serious threat to the lives of civilians.

This morning was no exception. Initially, Russian forces used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and later it became known that Tu-95MS strategic bombers were involved.

More details on the morning attack can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.

According to Ukraine's Air Force, air defense systems managed to destroy 77 aerial targets.
