Could Trump accept Putin's conditions to achieve ceasefire in Ukraine? Expert's opinion

US President Donald Trump is rapidly shifting his priorities. He seeks to demonstrate results in ending the war in Ukraine as quickly as possible, states Yevhen Mahda, director of the Institute of World Policy and a PhD in Political Science, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
The expert noted that the possibility of Trump pressuring Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve a truce in Ukraine cannot be entirely ruled out.
"But we see that Trump's priorities shift very quickly. I'm not a psychologist, so I lack the expertise to assess this with absolute certainty, but it seems to me that he struggles to maintain focus on a single direction for long. That is, to continuously impose sanctions, sanctions... And time is pressing him," he explained.
Mahda believes that Trump is eager to achieve quick success, but for now, it remains difficult for him. He also points out that while the White House website has claimed "50 victories in 50 days," these achievements do not seem impressive.
RBC-Ukraine asked the expert whether a 30-day ceasefire would inevitably be broken, to which he responded that it certainly would — because of Russia.
"Of course, it will be broken. Were there any ceasefires during the years of the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) or JFO (Joint Forces Operation) that weren’t violated? Russia has long-established mechanisms for this. Anyone who trusts Russia is deceiving themselves without any outside help. This needs to be said, understood, and emphasized. It’s a very simple formula. This is what Russia constantly relies on, what it thrives on. And that’s a fact. We, in turn, must make this clear," he concluded.
Ceasefire proposal
The US proposed a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine agreed to the proposal, but issues arose with Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he fears Ukraine could use the 30-day period to mobilize new troops and receive additional Western weapons.
Additionally, he refuses to halt hostilities, claiming that Ukrainian forces are allegedly encircled in the Kursk region.
