Israel is ready to act as a mediator in possible negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, but neither side has requested its involvement, Mila Tzur, Israel's Deputy Ambassador to Ukraine, stated to RBC-Ukraine.
"Israel is always ready, to the best of its ability, to help with any peace negotiations because we value peace and put the value of human life above everything else. But I think neither side probably wants or is asking for this involvement. It's like having too many cooks in one kitchen," she said.
Tzur noted that other countries are already helping and want to end the violence and stop the war, while achieving the best possible outcome for both Ukraine and Russia.
"But there can be a point when there are too many participants and proposals, and everything only becomes more complicated. So I think it's better to let the process that is already underway run its course," the deputy ambassador said.
She emphasized that a US-led process is already in place and added that Israel "would very much like to see it achieve some kind of result."
As a reminder, in March 2022, then-Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Before that, Bennett made an unannounced visit to Moscow to discuss the crisis with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Israel offered to mediate in resolving the situation.
