Chonhar Bridge strikes could complicate Ukrainian military advance to Crimea - Expert says
An attack on the Chonhar Bridge could potentially lead to issues in the future when Ukraine attempts to liberate the occupied Crimea, according to Oleksandr Musiienko, the head of the Center for Military-Legal Research.
He notes that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting systematic work to disrupt enemy logistics. In the event that the Chonhar bridges are disabled, the Russians are forced to use the route through Perekop more actively.
"And we can see that they are facing a serious problem with logistics and timely delivery of ammunition. The distance has increased, so delivery takes more time. At the same time, Crimea is not completely cut off today; transportation is ongoing. With difficulties and smaller volumes, but it's moving," he explained.
Musiienko believes that the destruction of the Chonhar bridges in the future will complicate the advancement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into Crimea. However, they will most likely be destroyed by the Russians during their retreat, as was the case in the Kherson region when at least two roads and two railway routes across the Dnipro River were blown up.
Strike on the Chonhar Bridge
On July 29th, the Ukrainian Defense Forces reported a second successful attack on the Chonhar Bridge. Prior to this, Saldo claimed the "repulsion of a Ukrainian attack" on the railway in Chonhar, where he alleged that 12 Storm Shadow missiles were flying.
The first strike on the bridge occurred on June 22nd of this year. At that time, Russia also claimed an attack using Storm Shadow missiles, which was later confirmed by the Ukrainian General Staff.
