The teams of Ukraine and the United States have resumed their work. A substantive meeting is expected next week, according to a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting of the European Council.

"I want to inform all of you that our teams – Ukraine and America – have resumed work. We hope that next week we will have a meaningful meeting," the president said.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has been striving for peace from the very first second of the war.

"Ukraine has been seeking peace since the very first second of the war, and we have always said that the only reason why the war continues is because of Russia. Ukraine is not only ready to take the necessary steps for peace, but we are also proposing what those steps are. And I ask you to support us in this – support Ukraine and those European leaders who are helping to pave the way for peace," he added.

Zelenskyy stressed that, as of now, everyone must ensure that Russia, as the sole source of this war, recognizes the necessity of ending it.

"This can be proved by two forms of silence that are easy to establish and monitor, namely, no attacks on energy and other civilian infrastructure – truce for missiles, bombs, and long-range drones, and the second is truce on the water, meaning no military operations in the Black Sea," the president explained.

Meeting between the USA and Ukraine

On Friday, February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Washington. During talks with US President Donald Trump and Vice President Jay D. Vance at the White House, a dispute arose over the war and the alleged "ingratitude" of Ukraine.

After the argument, President Zelenskyy left the White House early. Trump, in turn, accused Zelenskyy of not being ready for peace. As a result, no agreement between Ukraine and the US on minerals was signed.

Meanwhile, the White House blamed Zelenskyy for escalating the conflict, and Western media reported that Trump allegedly wanted the Ukrainian president to "fix the situation."

However, on March 5, it became known that Ukraine and the US are discussing the date and location for talks regarding the cessation of the war.

The head of the Ukrainian President's Office, Andriy Yermak, even held a phone call with US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and agreed on a meeting of negotiation teams in the near future.
