President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated, in an interview with Western media, that the war in Ukraine will not last another 10 years. He believes that a decade-long conflict would be costly for all sides.

When asked about the duration of the war, the head of state replied that he did not know when it would end, but not in 10 years.

"No one knows how long it (the war - ed.) will last. But not 10 years. Ukraine will not withstand that. […] It costs everyone dearly, and not just friends, but also enemies," Zelenskyy said.

According to the president, Ukraine is currently holding firmly: the supply of weapons and drones has improved, even if bureaucratic delays remain a problem.

At the same time, Zelenskyy called on the US and the European Union for a new round of tough sanctions against Russia. He also declared unity between France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, which, according to him, formed an active trio — a closely coordinated alliance that is in constant contact with Ukraine.

Negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation

Let us recall that after the meeting of the Сoalition of the Willing in Kyiv on May 10, Ukraine’s allies set a deadline for the Russian Federation to agree to a ceasefire. Ukraine stated it was ready for a comprehensive truce starting May 12, but no response came from Moscow.

Instead, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin declared that he wants to resume direct negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul on May 15. The Kremlin clarified that it wants negotiations from the position of 2022, but taking into account the “position on the ground.”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he would wait for Putin on May 15 in Türkiye, but he emphasized that he would speak only with the dictator and not with Kremlin officials.

As the President of Ukraine stated, if Putin comes to Türkiye, then he wants to discuss a ceasefire and prisoner exchange with the Russian president.
