President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The parties, in particular, discussed the export of Russian oil, according to the head of Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, the conversation with Modi was lengthy. They discussed in detail important issues of bilateral cooperation and the diplomatic situation.

The President of Ukraine informed the Prime Minister of India about Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and villages, in particular, about yesterday’s attack by the occupiers on a bus station in Zaporizhzhia.

"And this is at a time when, finally, there has appeared a diplomatic opportunity to end the war. Instead of demonstrating its readiness for a ceasefire, Russia demonstrates only the desire to continue occupation and killings," Zelenskyy pointed out.

He emphasized that India supports all peace initiatives and supports the mandatory participation of Ukraine in peace processes.

"We spoke in detail about sanctions against Russia. I noted that it is necessary to limit the export of Russian energy resources, in particular oil, in order to reduce its potential and ability to finance the continuation of this war. It is important that now every leader who has tangible levers of influence on Russia send Moscow the appropriate signals," Zelenskyy added.

Also, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of India agreed to meet in September at the UN General Assembly.

US tariffs against India

It should be recalled that earlier, US President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25% tariff against India.

According to Trump, the reason is that Delhi continues to actively import Russian oil, despite the war in Ukraine.

Trump emphasized that the authorities of India do not care that Ukrainians have been killed by the Russian military machine.
