Zelenskyy urges allies to provide Ukraine with 100-120 missile interceptors every month

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is urging allies, in an interview with DW, to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with at least 100- 120 missiles every month to intercept Russian ballistic missiles.
The president reminded Ukraine’s partners that Russia is currently capable of producing 140 ballistic missiles per month.
According to NATO rules, 280 interceptor missiles are needed to destroy that number of ballistic missiles, based on a 1-to-2 interception ratio.
“You will never have 280 missiles per month, and between us, it’s a huge challenge to have [even] 100 missiles per month. This is what I want. I want to have 100-120 for these difficult months, especially the cold months,” Zelenskyy stressed.
Against this backdrop, the president called on Kyiv’s allies to provide more support.
“They have to give as much as possible. With all respect to them, they have to give to Ukrainians to save their lives,” the head of state explained.
Zelenskyy also said that agreements had been signed with several European companies to develop a Ukrainian missile defense system called Freya.
The president expects the first stage of testing to begin by the end of December. Zelenskyy once again stressed that time is running out.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Canada had decided to allocate hundreds of millions of dollars for interceptor missiles for Ukraine.
Previously, the European Commission approved 6.1 billion euros for Ukraine for Patriot missiles and drones.
