Ukraine is rapidly ramping up drone production, including long-range UAVs, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

The President said he held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief today.

“The main focus was on reports about drone production in Ukraine - we are scaling it up to the maximum. This applies to the full range of drones: from Mavics to long-range UAVs. We're also boosting our domestic capabilities for producing ground robotic systems,” Zelenskyy stated.

He emphasized the need for continuous, stable growth in the production and delivery of all necessary drone components to Ukrainian forces. He added that there are promising prospects for this year.

Fiber-optic drones

Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine is developing fiber-optic drones, which are immune to electronic warfare systems.

Since the beginning of 2025, 20 new certified models of such drones have been introduced in Ukraine. 11 domestic companies are already producing them.

The current top priority is to reach the highest possible scale of production and delivery. Zelenskyy said he has instructed officials to sign contracts to the maximum.

Long-range UAVs

“There’s positive momentum on deep strikes as well (long-range drones - ed.). I can’t name specific figures, but we will provide the required quantity for our Defense Forces this year,” Zelenskyy assured.

He expressed gratitude to all the companies and soldiers involved in drone manufacturing and the development of Ukraine’s unmanned capabilities.

New long-range drone

In March, Zelenskyy announced that a Ukrainian drone capable of flying 3,000 kilometers had passed testing.

According to the President, such UAVs will help ensure Ukraine's security.
