Zelenskyy: Ukraine expects US to push Russia toward peace

Ukraine expects the United States to push Russia toward peace, as Moscow "fears America," President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a high-level UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he discussed paths to peace with US President Donald Trump, including "several good ideas" he hopes will work.
"We expect America to push Russia toward peace. Moscow fears America and always pays attention to it," Zelenskyy said, adding that Russia remains blind to its own losses and that a "powerful push" is needed to bring it to peace.
The two leaders met in New York on September 23 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Ahead of the summit, Zelenskyy told Trump that Ukrainian forces had liberated 360 square kilometers of territory and captured a significant number of Russian troops.
After the talks, Trump wrote on Truth Social that with European support, Ukraine could restore its territorial integrity and even "go further." At the same time, he suggested the war could drag on.
