Zelenskyy travels to Stockholm to sign 3 security commitments: Visit details
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in the Swedish capital to participate in the Ukraine-Northern Europe Summit. Three agreements on security guarantees are to be signed today, according to Zelenskyy.
The third Ukraine-Northern Europe summit will occur in Stockholm today, May 31. According to President Zelenskyy, Ukraine's main priorities are more air defense systems, providing the military with weapons, defense production, and global work to force Russia to peace.
Zelenskyy says he would meet with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Icelandic Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson.
Zelenskyy will also meet with King Carl XVI of Sweden and representatives of defense companies.
“Today, Ukraine will sign three security commitments at once, which will fix the projected defense and other comprehensive support for a long period,” the head of state says.
Security commitments
Ukraine has already signed agreements on security guarantees with several countries - the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, etc.
Negotiations on a security agreement between Ukraine and the United States are underway. According to the Financial Times, Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden may sign it at the G7 leaders' summit. It will be held on June 13-15 in Italy.
