President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked US president Donald Trump for military assistance, intelligence, and sanctions against Russia at a press conference after a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Kyiv.

“I am grateful to President Trump that he did not stop the American aid and that it is still coming. He did not stop the exchange of intelligence - it is important for us in the defense of the sky,” he said.

Zelenskyy also thanked the US president for the sanctions against Russia, which Trump did not stop.

“I'm counting on their strengthening,” the president of Ukraine added.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine works with the United States at various levels and has “a productive dialogue with President Trump and communication with the team.”

“We are very grateful for this and very grateful to the teams of leaders and leaders personally present who are constantly communicating, working with the United States of America. Our partners are in constant contact with Washington,” he said.

The president also provided details of the phone call with Trump that he had today together with European leaders and after the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. According to Zelenskyy, they agreed on further actions on the path to peace.

“We all spoke with President Trump, we agreed on our common view, our further actions. A full and unconditional ceasefire is very necessary. And accountability for refusal is very necessary. Under such a ceasefire, we can agree together on the foundation for peace,” Zelenskyy explained.

Trump and Zelenskyy's clash

On February 28, the presidents of the United States and Ukraine had a clash when Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the White House to meet with Donald Trump.

A public meeting took place in the Oval Office, attended by the Ukrainian and US teams and reporters. During the conversation between Zelenskyy, Trump, and US vice president JD Vance, a verbal altercation broke out concerning the war and Ukraine's alleged lack of gratitude for the assistance provided.

After the quarrel, Trump did not continue negotiations, and Zelenskyy left the White House ahead of schedule.

The next meeting of the leaders took place on April 26 at the Vatican, when they arrived for the funeral of Pope Francis. The meeting was one-on-one and lasted 15 minutes. However, both presidents characterized the meeting well.

After Zelenskyy and Trump's meeting in the Vatican, the American and Ukrainian government teams signed an agreement on natural resources.
