Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted sharply to the restrictions imposed by Hungary against Robert "Madyar" Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is of Hungarian ethnicity, according to Zelenskyy’s post.

The Ukrainian leader noted that at a time when Kyiv is dealing with the aftermath of one of the largest Russian attacks on the capital, Hungarian officials are once again trying to "portray black as white" and shift the blame for the war onto Ukraine.

At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that Hungary didn't condemn Russia for rejecting proposals for genuine diplomacy. Budapest did not even express condolences to Ukraine over the death of 17 people in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack. Instead, new accusations against Ukraine are coming from Orbán’s office.

"Hungarian officials have gone so far as to attempt to discriminate against members of the Hungarian community in Ukraine for their participation in the defense of our state and our people," Zelenskyy stated.

The Ukrainian leader stated that if Hungary has indeed closed entry to its territory and the entire Schengen zone for one of Ukraine’s military commanders, who is also an ethnic Hungarian, this can only provoke outrage.

"I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to clarify all the facts and respond accordingly," Zelenskyy added.

On August 28, it became known that Hungary had banned the entry of a Ukrainian Armed Forces commander due to drone strikes on the Russian Druzhba oil pipeline. In addition, the officer was reportedly banned from entering the Schengen Area.

It later emerged that the commander in question is Robert Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, known by the call sign "Madyar." The information was confirmed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Brovdi himself mocked Budapest in response to the restrictions against him. He called Orbán a dancer on bones and accused the pro-Russian Hungarian authorities of having the blood of Ukrainian civilians on their hands.
