On Tuesday, July 15, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed two significant laws. Notably, he approved the ratification of the agreement to establish a tribunal for Russia, according to the head of the Ukrainian state.

According to the President, he signed the law ratifying the agreement on the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression committed by Russia against Ukraine, as well as the law suspending Ukraine's participation in the Ottawa Convention on anti-personnel mines.

"I am grateful to the Members of the Ukrainian Parliament for supporting these decisions. Each one strengthens Ukraine," the Head of State emphasized.

Law on the Special Tribunal

The Head of State stated that the establishment of a Special Tribunal against Russia, along with cooperation with other countries and international organizations, will make it possible to ensure real and unavoidable accountability for Russia's war against Ukraine.

Zelenskyy also added that he expects the government and the Presidential Office team to present a timeline for implementing the agreements related to launching the tribunal.

Law on withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention

The President explained that the use of certain types of weapons, including anti-personnel mines, will allow Ukraine to achieve at least parity in capabilities and means necessary to defend against Russian aggression.

"Russia has never been a party to the Ottawa Convention and has never taken honest steps within any arms reduction policy or efforts to humanize the use of weapons," Zelenskyy noted.

Law on multiple citizenship

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also signed a law on multiple citizenship today.

According to the law, Ukrainians will gain the right to hold passports of two or more countries simultaneously.
