On Saturday, February 8, the President of Ukraine met with the new Chair of the NATO Military Committee in Kyiv. In particular, Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed Giuseppe Cavo Dragone Ukrainian long-range weapons and discussed several other issues, the President's Telegram channel informs.
"I met with the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone. At one of the defense industry enterprises, we got acquainted with the capacities and characteristics of Ukrainian long-range weapons," the statement said.
Zelenskyy also informed that the main topics of their meeting were:
- preparations for the next meeting in the Ramstein format;
- continued military assistance from NATO member states and direct investment in the domestic production of long-range drones
"I am grateful to Giuseppe Cavo Dragone for his first foreign visit in this position to Ukraine. I am grateful to the people working on our long-range weapons for the real result, which helps us a lot, which the Russians are very afraid of and which our NATO partners see," Zelenskyy summarized.
Today, the President of Ukraine recorded a video message in which he said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is not preparing for negotiations, but for the continuation of the war. In particular, Russia is increasing its army by more than 100 thousand people. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that every country in Europe will have to strengthen its defense.
"We have to see together what the threats are and what our countermeasures are. We need a clear understanding: here in Europe, every country will have to strengthen its defense, and the goal of 5% of GDP for defense will not disappear from the agenda," the Ukrainian President said.
