Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Yevhenii Khmara, acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine. Special operations have yielded results, and new operations are planned, according to Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of SBU's combat operations being carried out exactly as Ukraine needs them to be.

“Yevhenii provided updates on the details of recent operations. At this time, it is still too early to speak about them publicly, but the results we were aiming for have been achieved. New operations have also been approved,” he said.

Zelenskyy added that the SBU is no less active on the domestic front. The Service's employees counteract Russian sabotage, block collaborationist activities, and the work of Russian structures.

“The Security Service of Ukraine continues to counter all forms of sabotage against Ukraine, as well as any signs of collaboration with the enemy. Any activity by Russian structures within Ukraine is consistently blocked. I thank all SSU operatives and special forces personnel who defend our state and Ukraine’s national interests. Glory to Ukraine!” the president wrote.

On January 5, Zelenskyy appointed a new acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine. Major General Yevhenii Khmara, head of the SBU's Central Security Office A, was assigned.

Vasyl Malyuk, who had headed the SBU since 2022, left his post as head of the agency. His resignation was submitted to the parliament on January 9. Malyuk assured that he will remain in the service system to carry out world-class asymmetric special operations.
