Zelenskyy says Ukraine seeks real negotiations along current front lines

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine needs real negotiations, and they could start along the current front lines. He made the comments during a press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
"We need real negotiations, which means they can start where the front line is now. The contact line is the best line for talking. Europeans support this, and we thank everyone," he said.
Zelenskyy also noted that Russia has made no gains in Donetsk. Over 12 years, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has not succeeded in capturing this territory.
The president once again emphasized that Ukraine's Constitution prevents giving up territory.
"Since the territorial issue is so important, it should only be discussed by the leaders of Ukraine and Russia at the trilateral Ukraine, the United States, and Russia (meeting -ed.). So far, Russia gives no signs that a trilateral will happen," he added.
On the night of July 15–16, a meeting took place in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. The war in Ukraine was a key topic.
Afterwards, Trump stated on social media that a peace agreement was needed immediately, not just a ceasefire. However, the US side reportedly sees a solution through a territorial exchange.
Ukraine and Europe, on the other hand, wanted first to achieve a ceasefire and only then discuss other issues.
Tomorrow, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the White House to discuss ending the war.
