Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with Newsmax, said that Iran is effectively fighting against Ukraine by supplying weapons and technology to Russia.

"Iran, the regime, is effectively fighting against us by delivering weapons to the Russians. Weapons, technology, and possibly other things — I don't know. That's why they are very dangerous," the Ukrainian President said.

Despite this, Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine does not seek escalation. He explained, "We know how any such tragedy ends (referring to recent events in the Middle East -ed.) and the losses that come with war."

"But Iran helps. And it is a regime that helps the Russians. And it gives weapons, and we are in such a situation. And honestly, economically, this is also a very big problem for us, as I told you today about oil," Zelenskyy added.

The Ukrainian President said high oil prices benefit Russia because they provide funds that Moscow uses to finance the war.

Zelenskyy also stated that he believes Russia has always supported Iran. The question now is whether Moscow will do so openly.

"Will the Russians help Iran? I think they always have, to be honest. The question is whether they will openly support Iran," emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Earlier today, Zelenskyy said a new wave of conflict between Iran and Israel creates additional risks for Ukraine, especially in energy and security.

He stressed that if export price caps on Russian oil are not imposed, Moscow will earn windfall profits. Those funds could be directed toward the war against Ukraine.

"This factor certainly does not help us. Therefore, because of this, our voice will be stronger in talks with the American side regarding the introduction of price caps and the application of sanctions against Russia’s energy sector," Zelenskyy said.
