Zelenskyy's office announces positive decisions on air defense
Upcoming public statements from Ukraine's allies regarding new air defense system deliveries are anticipated soon, according to Serhii Nykyforov, the spokesperson for the President of Ukraine.
Nykyforov explained that a meeting took place in Singapore with the United States Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, where air defense was the main topic of discussion.
"Of course, I cannot now announce the specifics, timelines, or the essence of what was discussed. But I can say that the topic was air defense for Ukraine, for Kharkiv, for civilian infrastructure, for people, and for the front line. And it received the most attention," Nykyforov said.
The spokesperson for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that Kyiv is actively cooperating with the US, and Washington, in turn, is working with other partners on new air defense deliveries.
"We expect positive public decisions shortly," Nykyforov said.
Strengthening Ukraine's air defense
The issue of strengthening Ukraine's air defense has become particularly acute amid recent intensified mass attacks by Russian terrorists on Ukraine's territory. As the President previously said, only 25 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems are needed to fully secure the skies.
In the past week alone, the Russian Federation has used about 1,000 missiles, drones, and guided bombs (KAB) against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Romania is considering sending a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
