Zelenskyy: Russia's Mykolaiv strike shows they're not preparing for talks

Russian troops struck Mykolaiv today. As a result of the enemy attack, more than one hundred thousand people in the city were left without heating, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Today, more than one hundred thousand people in Mykolaiv were left without heating due to a Russian Shahed strike on the city's critical infrastructure. A regular Ukrainian city, a regular civilian infrastructure," emphasized the president.
He noted that today's strike had no connection to military actions or the situation on the front line. Zelenskyy stressed that this attack once again proves that the Russians are fighting directly against the people and life in Ukraine.
"And they fight in a vile way, without easing the pressure. This is not how those who truly seek peace and are preparing for negotiations act," the president pointed out.
The president explained that repair teams are actively working on-site to restore heating in Mykolaiv.
"We will continue working with our partners to strengthen protection against such strikes. We also need to work actively at all levels with all partners to prevent Russia from prolonging this war or making the threat to life permanent. We must push Russia towards peace," he emphasized.
Zelenskyy also mentioned the recent Shahed strike on the shelter at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. He noted that this attack on Mykolaiv, as well as all similar Russian attacks, should provoke a strong response and cooperation from all partners, leading to joint efforts to force Russia into peace.
Attack on Mykolaiv
Recall that on the night of February 16, the Russians attacked Mykolaiv with drones. Explosions were heard in the city around 1:00 AM.
Later, local authorities confirmed the strike on the city, specifying that a Russian drone had targeted a critical infrastructure facility. A fire broke out, which firefighters quickly extinguished.
As a result of the attack, a man born in 1960 was injured and hospitalized.
It is known that part of Mykolaiv was left without heating due to the Russian attack.
