Ukrainian defenders are holding the line around Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, while continuing their counteroffensive in the Donetsk region, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s evening address.

According to the head of state, today he received reports from military officials and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

As Zelenskyy noted, Ukrainian forces continue counteroffensive operations in the Pokrovsk and Dobropillia areas, which were among the most important directions for the Russian advance. Russia has been unable to launch a full-scale offensive.

"Our troops are destroying their forces. Russian losses are significant. The exchange fund for our state has been substantially replenished. Every day brings more Russian prisoners," the president said.

The head of state thanked all units involved in the counteroffensive.

Zelenskyy also stated that Ukrainian forces are holding positions in Kupiansk and the surrounding areas, expressing gratitude to all brigades.

"There will also be new Ukrainian deep strikes in response to what Russia is doing," the president added.

Fighting in Kupiansk

Recently, information appeared online claiming that Russian occupiers had reached the center of Kupiansk and that fighting was ongoing there.

The spokesperson for the Dnipro Operational-strategic grouping of troops, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksii Belskyi, told RBC-Ukraine that this information is false.

He clarified that the enemy is active in the northern part of Kupiansk, where they managed to penetrate, and that Russian forces are already being destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.
