Head of Zelenskyy's Office addresses concerns over Trump's election victory
Ukraine is not afraid of Donald Trump's potential victory in the US presidential elections. None of the candidates for the US presidency want to allow Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to win the war, reports the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with Corriere Della Sera.
"We are not afraid; after nearly three years of war, what else can we do? Obviously, US policy is very important for us, as they are our main ally. And we know very well that the American public is with us," Yermak said.
He recalled the recent meetings between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden, as well as Kamala Harris, which were described as "warm." According to Yermak, the meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump also "went very well."
"I was present, but I won't go into details since it was behind closed doors. However, I can say that we returned from the United States confident that neither of the two candidates wants to allow Putin to win this war and that military support will continue," noted the head of the President's Office.
Yermak emphasized that Trump also speaks about the need for a just peace. He added that while the Republican Party differs from the Democratic Party, they are well aware that it is Russia that attacked Ukraine.
US elections
It should be noted that the US presidential elections will take place on November 5. The main contest is between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris.
According to recent polls, Trump has surpassed Harris in support, albeit by a narrow margin. A Bloomberg survey indicates that the presidential candidates are tied in seven key states.
