Trump surpasses Harris in latest poll
US presidential candidate Donald Trump has narrowly surpassed his opponent Kamala Harris. The gap between them is just two percentage points, according to The Wall Street Journal.
According to the poll, 47% of respondents intend to vote for Trump in the election, while 45% support Harris. This narrow margin falls within the poll’s margin of error, meaning either candidate could be in the lead.
The Wall Street Journal suggests, based on the survey results, that a barrage of negative ads during the campaign and the candidates' own performances may have spoiled some of the positive impressions of Harris after she announced her presidential run.
Specifically, voter sentiment toward the vice president has shifted, with 53% viewing her unfavorably compared to 45% with a favorable opinion. Additionally, 54% of US voters disapprove of her performance as vice president, while 42% approve.
Meanwhile, voters' opinions of Trump have improved, with 52% approving of his work as president and 48% disapproving.
Moreover, US voters view Trump’s economic plan more favorably than Harris’s.
