Zelenskyy reacted to tragic plane crash in South Korea
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the plane crash in South Korea, which resulted in the deaths of over 100 people.
"Tragic news about the horrific Jeju Air plane crash at the Muan International Airport in Muan County, Republic of Korea, which claimed so many lives. Each lost life is an immeasurable tragedy," stated the president.
Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families of the victims, the people of South Korea, and the acting president, Choi Sang-mok.
"We share your sorrow and stand side by side with the Korean people in this mournful time," the head of state added.
Major plane crash in South Korea
On December 29, a tragic plane crash occurred at Muan Airport in South Korea involving a Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Jeju Air. The flight was coming from Thailand but was unable to land safely at the South Korean airport.
During the landing, the plane’s landing gear failed to deploy properly, causing the aircraft to skid off the runway, crash into a wall, and catch fire.
There were 181 people on board. Two survivors have been confirmed. According to media reports, the death toll has been confirmed at 124 people, with others still considered missing.
