Zelenskyy proposes venue for new round of peace talks involving US

Ukraine plans to step up diplomatic efforts in the fall, while the UN General Assembly in New York could provide a venue for new talks, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's remarks in an interview with Axios.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine seeks to use the next two months to bring the diplomatic process back into an active phase.
As a possible venue for further talks between Ukraine and the US, the president suggested the UN General Assembly in New York, which will take place in late September.
Thus, the Ukrainian side sees the UN international platform as one possible venue for continuing contacts with the US and finding a format for further negotiations.
"We have this September, October to find any way to speak," Zelenskyy said.
He stressed that resuming talks remains necessary to achieve results.
"Without dialogue … we will not have (a) result," the president said.
Ukraine does not rule out trilateral talks
At the same time, Zelenskyy said there is a possibility of holding another round of trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the US and Russia.
However, no final decision has been made on such a meeting. The parties still need to determine the future format of the negotiating process.
The president also expressed hope that US President Donald Trump would be able to help launch genuine negotiations before the onset of the cold season.
"I think that President Trump can find a way to (a) real beginning of the process of negotiating before (the) cold winter," Zelenskyy added.
The day before, US President's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv to facilitate further dialogue on ending the Russia-Ukraine war.
Following the meetings, the US side said that "substantive progress" had been made. In particular, the sides agreed on a schedule for additional trilateral talks.
