Zelenskyy presents Ukraine’s Plan A and Plan B for upcoming year

Ukraine has prepared two plans for 2026. One of them envisions ending the war with Russia, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a press conference with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola in Kyiv.
The Head of State noted that the cost of one year for Ukraine in the conditions of a full-scale war with Russia is 120 billion dollars. Ukraine's budget provides 60 billion dollars, and another 60 billion still needs to be found for the next year.
"I hope we will end this war. But in any case, the Plan A is to end the war. Plan B is 120 billion. And this is a huge challenge," Zelensky emphasized.
According to him, if a ceasefire were reached or security guarantees were provided to Ukraine, the country would already need less funding.
"In any case, you need to understand the scale of this issue. That is why we talk so much about these funds," he added.
Forecasts on the end of the war
Yesterday, September 16, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant suggested that Russia's war against Ukraine could end within 2–3 months if European countries impose strict tariffs on those nations that purchase Russian oil.
At the same time, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that he is not optimistic about the possibility of Russia’s war against Ukraine ending in the short term.
According to him, the positions of Ukraine and Russia differ too greatly.
