Due to the threat from Belarus, there is a need to strengthen air defense in the north, and such decisions are already being worked out with the Ministry of Defense and the government, according to a Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Strengthening of air defense in the northern direction
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a large number of appeals are coming from communities located along the border with Belarus.
According to him, the air defense system in this area needs to be significantly strengthened in line with the requests of local residents and the current security situation.
The president emphasized that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has identified this issue as one of its priorities.
Allocation of resources and equipment
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that this involves reallocating additional equipment and resources to strengthen defense capabilities.
He added that the state has the necessary capacities and expects a report on the results of the decisions made.
Separately, the president said that funding for defense measures on the Chernihiv–Kyiv direction is provided in full.
Support for communities and the role of the government
According to the head of state, when there are urgent requests — whether equipment, resources, or local assistance — state institutions must respond promptly.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the government is obliged to ensure funding and support for all necessary defense measures, including initiatives that communities can implement themselves.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Belarusian leadership must remain vigilant and understand that any aggressive actions against Ukraine would have consequences.
It is also noted that presidential advisor Dmytro Lytvyn commented on statements by Alexander Lukashenko about alleged readiness for dialogue with Zelenskyy and a possible visit to Ukraine, saying that the Presidential Office responds to such statements in a restrained and unenthusiastic manner.
