Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has tasked diplomats with preparing a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which is expected to take place soon.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Europe needs strong, unified positions.

"I have instructed our diplomats — and I have already discussed this with many leaders — to prepare a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in the near future. In Europe, we need strong, shared positions. And this will happen. I thank everyone who is with us, who is with Ukraine," the President said.

On Friday, October 17, a meeting took place at the White House between US President Donald Trump and President Zelenskyy.

After the meeting, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed the importance of European solidarity with Ukraine against Russian aggression.

"After President Zelenskyy's talks yesterday in the White House and with European leaders, one thing is absolutely clear: Europe's solidarity with Ukraine against Russia's aggression is today more important than ever before," Tusk wrote on social media platform X.

Notably, after his meeting with Trump, Zelenskyy held phone calls with several European leaders. CNN reported that European leaders reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine.

What is the Coalition of the Willing

The Coalition of the Willing is a group of European and other countries that have pledged support to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. The coalition was announced by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on March 2, 2025.

The coalition's goal is to strengthen European support for Ukraine, lay the groundwork for a peaceful resolution, and ensure allied participation in the process amid the United States’ unstable policy on the Ukrainian issue.
