Zelenskyy on Oreshnik strike - Ukraine with partners are looking for proper response
Ukraine is establishing all the details about the new Russian missile. At the same time, Ukraine is working with partners to find a response to this escalating step by the Kremlin, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy said that today the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs showed the wreckage of the Russian missile that hit Dnipro to news agencies.
“Now we are conducting examinations, working with partners to establish all the details and characteristics of this missile and to find the response to this Russian escalation step,” he said.
The President emphasized that the world has air defense systems capable of protecting against such a thing.
“We must focus on this - everyone. Russia must feel that every step it takes to expand the war has consequences. The consequences are in our actions at the front, our soldiers, and our units. And there are also consequences in the actions of the world. In the way the world responds,” the head of state said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin should not be given a single week to adapt and find a counteraction.
“We must constantly do everything so that Russia is forced to seek the possibility of peace. Real peace. And this can only be achieved by two things - helping Ukraine and putting pressure on Russia. I thank everyone in the world who is doing this, who is with us, with Ukraine, with Ukrainians! I thank all our people who are fighting and working for Ukraine!” the President said.
Russia's new ballistic missile
This week, Russia used a new ballistic missile against Ukraine for the first time. The Ukrainian Air Force initially claimed that it was an intercontinental ballistic missile.
Putin said it was a test launch of the Oreshnik missile system. Ukrainian intelligence reported that the Russians had fired a missile from the Kedr complex at Dnipro.
The head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, explained that it was the same missile and that the name used by Russia, Oreshnik, is a missile program, while Kedr is a missile system.
RBC-Ukraine reported today that the Associated Press showed the debris of the Oreshnik missile used by Russia to attack Dnipro.
