After Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the country must respond. There is already an understanding of what needs to be done next, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Journalists asked the head of state whether Ukraine plans to trigger a blackout in Moscow.

"Our task after the strikes is to respond to the enemy. Our main goal is to protect ourselves," Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that the enemy had been stockpiling weapons and waiting for rain and fog, as such weather complicates air defense operations, particularly for aviation.

"They know what they are doing. And we know what to do," the President added.

Blackout in Moscow

On September 27, President Zelenskyy stressed that amid Russian threats to cause a blackout in Kyiv, Russia should know there will be a blackout in Moscow.

On the night of October 10, Russian forces struck Kyiv's energy facilities.

According to Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko, the attack left more than 5,800 buildings without electricity and over 7,000 without water.

Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned residents that similar strikes could happen again in the coming days.
