President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about assassination attempts on him at the beginning of the full-scale war. In an interview with The Guardian, Zelenskyy stated that during one of the attempts, people were killed in the Presidential office.

"Many leaders called me and said I needed to leave, it all happened. It wasn’t like someone called and said, 'Leave,' and I said, 'No.' There was pressure from different sides. There were people who wanted to kill, there were gunshots, and so on. Some people inside our office were killed, and there were others who defended. There was an airborne landing, and so on," Zelenskyy said.

Ukraine's President also added that at the same time, there were ultimatums from Moscow, the Russians exerted pressure, and, according to him, "there were calls from different people."

Assassination attempts on Ukraine’s leadership

As early as May 2022, the President of Ukraine stated that there had been 10 assassination attempts on his life since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In March 2024, Zelenskyy spoke of more than 10 assassination attempts.

In April 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine and Poland exposed a Russian agent who was helping to prepare an assassination attempt on Zelenskyy. It was planned during the Ukrainian President’s visit to Poland.

Furthermore, in May 2024, the Security Service uncovered a network of agents preparing to assassinate Zelenskyy, as well as the Heads of the Security Service and Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. As part of the investigation, the involvement of the Head of the State Guard Administration department was confirmed.
